Transfer Credit Evaluation
Items to consider when taking transfer courses
Study Abroad:
Students who intend to study abroad on a non-Miami sponsored Program should consult with the Office of International Education, located in 216 MacMillan Hall, to determine if transfer credit can be accepted and what documentation will be required to evaluate the student's record. Course equivalency information is available in the Transfer Evaluations office at 104 Campus Avenue Building.
Part IX. Degree - Honors and Distinctions
Section 901. General Hours
To graduate with University Honors, a student must complete the first year, upper-class and senior course requirements of the honors program, and achieve a 3.50 cumulative GPA upon completion of the required credit hours for graduation.
Students pursuing a baccalaureate degree can graduate with distinction by achieving, at graduation, a cumulative GPA of 3.50 (cum laude), 3.75 (magna cum laude), or 3.90 (summa cum laude), provided that they earn at least 64 credit hours from Miami University.
Students pursuing an associate degree can graduate with distinction by achieving, at graduation, a cumulative GPA of 3.0 (cum laude), 3.75 (magna cum laude), or 3.90 (summa cum laude), provided that they earn at least 32 credit hours from Miami University.
For students who earn fewer than 64 hours from Miami toward a bachelor's degree or fewer than 32 hours from Miami toward an associate degree, the cumulative GPA used at graduation to determine eligibility for honors is the lower of the following averages:
(1) the average for all courses taken from Miami or
(2) the combined average calculated using the grades from all college-level courses.
