1. Final examinations are expected in all undergraduate courses except where other evaluative substitute procedures have been approved by the Department Chair or Dean of the Division. Final examinations or duly approved substitutions may be completed during the final examination week. Neither final examinations nor tests of fifty minutes or greater length shall be given during the seven days preceding the first study day of the semester. The above regulations do not apply to laboratory final examinations.

No final examinations, including laboratory final examinations, may be given during study days.

Final examinations in the accelerated or sprint courses that end with the last week of classes must be given during the final examination week during the regular scheduled time slot.

EXCEPTIONS TO THESE RULES REQUIRE THE APPROVAL OF THE DEPARTMENT CHAIR, THE ACADEMIC DEAN, AND THE REGISTRAR.

Instructors wishing to change their examination day/time must complete the Exception to Standard Final Exam Times Form, which requires the approval of the department chair, the academic dean, and the registrar. Instructors choosing this option are responsible for checking with their students to ensure there are no exam conflicts by making this change. If conflicts occur, responsibility to make adjustments to accommodate the students falls on the instructor who opted to change their examination day/time.

2. Grades are due 72 hours after the completion of the examination. BannerWeb will be available for grade input from noon, Friday, May 2, 2008, until noon, Tuesday, May 13, 2008.

3. Conflicts are to be adjusted by the course whose department abbreviation is nearest the beginning of the alphabet.

THE EXCEPTION TO THIS RULE: ANY DEPARTMENT, WHO HAS OPTED TO CHANGE THEIR EXAMINATION DAY/TIME, MUST WORK OUT ANY CONFLICTS THEIR STUDENTS ENCOUNTER.

4. The Oxford semester ends at the close of classes, Friday, May 2, 2008. May 3 rd and 4 th have been designated as Study Days.

5. Classes meeting four or five days a week may be examined with either the MWF or TR classes. Please let the Office of the Registrar know which day you will be examining by completing the

Examination Day Form.

If your course will not be giving a traditional final examination (i.e.: portfolio/final presentation) during the week of final examinations, please let the Office of the Registrar know so that the room can be reassigned if necessary by completing the

Won’t Be Using Classroom Space Form.

6. When a course may logically be examined at either of two hours (i.e.: 9:30 - 10:45 TR) the examination MUST be given at the time designated for the first of the two hours involved (i.e., 9 TR). Courses meeting twice a week for 100-minute sessions must be examined at the beginning hour (i.e., for an 8:00 - 9:40 TR class, the examination must be given with the classes meeting at 8 TR).

7. Regularly Scheduled Night Classes Evening Courses scheduled on Monday or Wednesday or both will be examined on Monday evening, May 5, at 7:45 p.m. Evening Courses scheduled on Tuesday or Thursday or both will be examined on Tuesday evening, May 6, at 7:45 p.m. Classes meeting on Saturday morning only will be examined on the morning of May 3.

Classes meeting at 4:00 p.m. or 4:30 p.m. on any weekday will be examined on Thursday, May 8, at 5:30 p.m. The 7:00 P.M. classes will be examined at the 7:45pm exam period. If there are two courses taught by the same instructor on different evenings (M, W), both course must be examined on Monday.

8. Change of Examinations No student shall be required to take more than three (3) scheduled final examinations in one calendar day. In cases where students are scheduled for four or more final examinations on one day, the Registrar shall be empowered to make necessary adjustments. An examination may be changed to a later time with the consent of the instructor. It may only be advanced to an earlier time with the consent of both the instructor and the dean of the division in which the course is given.

For those students with four or more exams in one day, the course whose department’s three-letter abbreviation is nearest the beginning of the alphabet needs to make the adjustment.

9. Make-up periods for examination conflicts can be arranged throughout the week of examinations.

10. Evening Course Examination Rooms Evening courses will be rescheduled on Monday and Tuesday to other classrooms when conflicts occur. Each instructor will be notified of such changes.
