Restrictions
Some
courses are restricted to assure equity in scheduling for those
students for whom these courses are required. All restrictions
are based on a student's primary major only. Second
majors, minors and thematic sequences are not considered.
There
are seven types of course restrictions.
College
Restrictions
College
Restrictions restrict courses to students admitted to a certain
college (division), such as College of Arts and Science, School
of Engineering and Applied Science, School of Education, Health and Society, School of Fine Arts, School of Interdisciplinary
Studies or Richard T. Farmer School of Business. For example,
a business course may be restricted to students in the School
of Business.
Major
Restrictions
Major
Restrictions restrict courses to students with a specific primary
major. Second majors, minors and thematic sequences are not
considered. For example, an education course may be restricted
to students admitted to a specific major.
Class
Restrictions
Certain
courses are restricted to students by classification, such as
senior, junior, sophomore
or freshmen. A student's classification is
based on their earned credit hours, and does not include their
courses in progress. For example, certain courses are restricted
to senior only and other courses are restricted to freshmen.
Level
Restrictions
Level
Restrictions restrict courses by level. Graduate courses
are restricted to graduate level students.
Degree
Restrictions
Degree
Restrictions restrict courses to students admitted to a specific
degree. Examples of degrees are Bachelor of Science in Business,
Bachelor of Science in Education or Bachelor of Arts.
Program
Restrictions
Program
Restrictions restrict courses to students admitted to a specific
program. This is similar to the degree restriction, and is used
to distinguish pre-majors in programs. Examples of programs
are BS BUS (Bachelor of Science in Business), BS (Bachelor of
Science), or PRE BS BUS (Bachelor of Science in Business Pre-Major).
Campus
Restrictions
Campus
Restrictions restrict courses based on the campus of the student.
For example, Luxembourg courses are restricted to Luxembourg
students.
