Clearly, Psychology is one of the largest departments on campus, serving students through the College of Arts and Science and throughout the University. To help students make the most of their studies, we have assembled several resources to help you benefit from your studies at Miami and prepare for a future where your psychology degree will help you get jobs, attend graduate school, and make the world a better place. For example, you can find your advisor, read though the Handbook for Psychology Majors, or read our collection of Virtual Handouts. Moreover, you can learn more about summer employment resources and volunteer opportunities as well. Also, we strongly encourage you to get involved with psychology at Miami. We encourage students to get involved in research, psychology organizations (e.g., Psi Chi), and many intensive teaching experiences (e.g., senior thesis, capstone classes). |

Many questions about advicing can be easily answered by consulting the handbook for psychology majors. More substantive questions about course scheduling and planning, involvement in research, and career planning should be directed to your academic advisor (who can be found when you log into bannerweb). If you cannot identify your advisor, you may contact the secretary of the Chief Academic Advisor at 529-2400. |
Psi Chi is the nationally-chartered honor society in Psychology.
Miami Psi Chi sponsors many programs to
help undergraduates make the most of their education, and it serves as
a wonderful opportunity to get involved in the department. Psi Chi sponsors
many useful programs each year (about one per month). Psi Chi advisor: Dr. Terri Messman-Moore |
We have many other resources to help you with career planning, scheduling classes, summer employment opportunities, volunteer experiences, and a series of handouts to explain a whole host of issues (including what you can do with a bachelor's degree in Psychology, how to get involved with research and teaching at Miami, and how to get into graduate school). |
