Doctoral Program Requirements

There are no specific courses in human factors and ergonomics that are required of all students. This allows students to obtain as much applied training as they desire.  The doctorate is earned when the student has satisfied the basic requirements of the department

  • 7 graduate seminars in human factors, cognitive science and neuroscience.
  • Continuous involvement in research
  • 2 semesters of graduate statistics
  • A course in research methods
  • Proseminar in psychology
  • M. A. Thesis (Students having already completed an M. A. thesis at another university do not have to complete another.)
  • Completion of comprehensive examination in areas chosen by the student
  • Ph. D. Dissertation
