Scholarship: Interest Groups
Students and faculty who share similar research interests have formed interest groups in the psychology department. These groups provide a forum for discussion and an opportunity for continued scholarly development. Interest groups that have met recently include:
Assimilation Research Group (ARG)
The Assimilation Research Group focuses on research involving Stiles' Assimilation Model of Change and related research on psychotherapy process and outcome. Bill Stiles and any interested clinical graduate students meet weekly to present and discuss research projects at all stages of development. The group facilitates planning new projects, working with on-going research, and writing and publishing manuscripts. Group members also read and discuss current literature in the field of psychotherapy.
Qualitative Research Group (QRG)
The Qualitative Research group focuses on reading and discussing recent texts and articles about qualitative research methods and methodology. In addition, members are invited to bring research ideas, research in progress, or drafts of manuscripts they are working on for discussion/critique by the group. The Center for Qualitative Inquiry is affiliated with QRG and QRG puts on an annual conference each year in April.
Gender Research Group (GRG)
The Gender Research group focuses on readings and discussions on topics such as gender bias in academia, feminist identity, and definitions of feminist research and feminist theory. Members are also welcome to bring issues that concern them or pieces they were working on for discussion.

Ohio Psychotherapy Research Consortium (OPRC)
The Ohio Psychotherapy Research Consortium is an inter-university collaboration among three sister schools in Ohio: Miami University, Ohio University, and The University of Toledo. The Consortium offers advanced graduate students opportunities to enhance their studies in psychotherapy research through pooling resources, inter-university instruction and exchanges, research collaboration, and research skill training.
