Clinical Traineeship
Students in their
third year and beyond have the opportunity to receive
intense clinical training in a 20-hour/week external
paid traineeship. Students work in a wide range of
settings (student counseling centers, community
mental health, school-based mental health programs,
hospitals) where they receive on-site supervision.
Students have the opportunity to provide a variety
of clinical services in a "real world" professional
setting, including individual and group therapy,
assessment and report writing, and educational
and prevention programming. Students often seek several traineeship
sites to diversify their training. Below
are listed just some of the traineeship opportunities
available.

"The Student Counseling Service
has offered me a wonderful opportunity to incorporate the theories
and practice of therapy. It also provided a comprehensive training
placement for me to practice individual and group therapy, career
counseling, and outreach programs. The SCS is also comprised of
a diverse staff who have been very supportive to me. Working in
the SCS has been a process in which I experienced both personal
and professional growth and I truly miss working there."

"My
training experience at Dunn Center was excellent. I was able
to work with a diverse array of clients, gain experience in
assessment/report writing, and process my professional growth
in helpful and supportive clinical supervision. It was an
invaluable way to be introduced to the practice of contemporary
community mental health care." |
