Graduate Students
This list includes current graduate students on campus and on internship.
Graduate Students form a close-knit
community in the department. They work together
in a supportive and respectful manner and do not
feel pressured to compete for resources or accomplishments.
Lori Koelsch, a current graduate student, states,
"the clinical grad students and faculty are
friendly and helpful. There is always someone around
to talk to about problems you are having with your
school work or anything else in your life."
This nurturing atmosphere helps students succeed
academically and grounds them in the Oxford
Community. They are actively involved in research
and publication,
collaborating with professors and fellow students.
They regularly publish journal articles and present
their research at conferences
throughout the U.S. and abroad. Students also work
together to build bridges to the university and
community by serving on departmental committees
and the Graduate Student Association and by volunteering
at places like the Butler County Rape Crisis Center
and tutoring programs at local schools and churches.
When students are not hard at work, they often socialize
together. They frequently attend concerts, form
departmental intramural sports teams, and host potlucks,
parties, and open-mike nights. In general, our graduate
students rely on one another to form a strong network
of social and academic support.

"Prior to entering Miami University, I feared that returning
to a graduate school environment as an older student would
be quite stressful. I particularly worried that my life experience
would not be valued and I might not fit into the close-knit
college community. Happily, I have found Miami to be extremely
supportive of the older, returning student, both academically
and socially. Faculty, staff, and students alike have all
been helpful and inclusive. I have learned so much during
my time here and still feel as though I, too, have had something
valuable to offer the program, my fellow students, and the
university as a whole."
