Julie S. Rubin, Clinic Director
39K PSYC
513-529-3116
Education
Ph.D. University of Texas-Austin
Theoretical Orientation
I would describe my theoretical orientation as developmental in nature; I draw heavily on the works of Erik Erikson and current developmentalists in understanding how the client is mastering the developmental tasks expected of someone his/her age and developmental status.
Recently Taught Undergraduate Courses
Childhood Psychopathology and Developmental Disabilities
Recently Taught Graduate Courses
My teaching, most recently, has centered around the topics of diagnosis, assessment and evaluation. I have been focusing upon teaching the fundamentals of psychological assessment including intelligence, achievement and social emotional evaluations and then helping students learn to integrate and apply the fundamentals to actual assessment cases in the Assessment Practicum.
Research Interests
My current position as the MU Psychology Clinic Director does not afford me the time to conduct my own research. However, I serve as a Reviewer for the Journal of Autism and Developmental Disorders and so am up to date in the research field of autism and other developmental disorders. I also support the research of graduate students in the fields of child development, behavioral disorders and other related topics.
Opportunities for Graduate Students
I am actively supervising students doing clinical evaluations and clinical work in our school based mental health program.
