Education:

Theoretical Orientation:

I am most deeply influenced by Hillman's archetypal psychology.

Recently Taught Graduate Courses:

I teach both modules and a practicum course introducing the archetypal approach. I teach a summer section of History & Systems each year for clinical students that emphasizes the philosophy of clinical psychology. I also am part of the faculty group that teaches a graduate level course in qualitative research methods.

Research Interests:

My current research focuses on dreams, especially significant dreams. One facet of this is my study of the dreams of individuals with eating disorders at various points in the process of recovering from such disorders. I have an on-going interest in qualitative research methods.

Opportunities for Graduate Students:

Each year several graduate students have an opportunity to lead an experiential dream group in the context of my undergraduate seminar on dreams. This has been an excellent introduction both to group work and to dreams. I also have a regular summer archetypal psychology study group. We read, do dream work, watch films, and do dream inspired art projects of various sorts.
