Education:

Theoretical Orientation: My orientation is psychodynamic, based on object-relations, self-psychology, and interpersonal concepts.
Recently Taught Graduate Courses: I teach psychodynamically oriented clinical practicum, and modules on such topics as: Assessment and treatment of anxiety disorders, artistic expressions of psychopathology, adult assessment, personality disorders, and others.

Research Interests:

In my research, I combine a traditional quantitative approach with a more subjective, qualitative method of inquiry. My 3 main lines of research are:

1. The study of anxiety (such as social phobias, agoraphobia, a OCD) and its treatment. This includes the understanding of  personality problems and anxiety, influence of parents on the development of anxiety, perfectionism, self-esteem, shyness,  and other factors connected to anxiety disorders.  Occasionally, treatment, in a group format, is offered to subjecfts in the studies.
2. The study of stress, trauma, and loss. This includes exploration of the long-term effects on the sufferers and their children.
3. Acculturation, immigration, and the experience of being a minority in different areas of life.

Opportunities for Graduate Students:

I welcome students' involvement in my projects and contributing their own ideas to these projects.
