Lt. Stephen A. VanWinkle
Hello, I am Lt. Stephen VanWinkle. I joined the Miami University Police Department in the Fall of 1999. I served as a patrol officer until 2002 when I was promoted to patrol supervisor. In the Spring of 2006 I was promoted to Lieutenant. I currently head up the Miami University Police Department's Special Response Team and take care of all the day-to-day scheduling and patrol issues with officers and supervisors here at MUPD.
I have been an active member of the Community Relations Team for 7 years. In April of 2005, I was the recipient of the "Helping Hand Award" presented by the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority. I am a graduate of the 2006 Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command. I recently finished training in Washington, D.C. with the United States Secret Service, class 206-05.
During my off-time, I enjoy spending time with my wife of 10 years and my two children. We enjoy the outdoor life and playing sports. I'm also currently a student here at Miami University working toward a Criminal Justice degree.
