The Miami University Police have had a number of different patches over the department's history. The present
patch features the University's lantern logo as well as the Seal of the State of Ohio. The patch is worn on both sleves
of all uniform shirts, jackets and sweaters and is also featured as part of the graphic design of the department's
police cruisers.

The department's last uniform patch was worn on both sleeves of uniforms for nearly a decade. The patch was designed by
a former supervisor and featured a stylized treatment of the University's formal logo. This patch was also featured as part
of the graphic design of the department's police cruisers.

The Miami University Police Department was formerly known as the Department of Public Safety. The red "Public Safety"
patches were worn on both sleeves of the uniforms for several years.

There are some older variations of the red and white patches including the red and white shield-shaped "Police" patch and
a round red and white "Police" patch. The years that these patches were worn is not presently known.
