Ptl. Keith Hibbard

My name is Officer Keith Hibbard and I've been a member of the Community Relations Team since 2003. I'm the Community Relations Officer for the East Quad Halls of Dorsey, McBride, Dennison, and Collins. I also serve as the police liaison for the NROTC and AFROTC Units at Miami.

I've been a police officer at Miami University since 2002. I spent the first couple years as a patrol officer in a police car until I had a chance to join the bike patrol unit in 2004. As a bike officer, I rode year round unless it was snowing (well sometimes even in the snow) and was able to have face-to-face contact with many people in our community.

In December of 2007 I received a new partner with my assignment as the Explosive Detection K9 Handler. My partner Ero (pronounced Arrow), a German Shepherd, is a dual purpose police canine trained in patrol work and bomb detection. During the summer of 2009 Ero and I competed in the United States Police Canine Association’s Region 5 dog trial held in Marion, OH where we earned the USPCA Explosive Detector Dog Certification.

Prior to moving back to Ohio and joining the Miami team, I was a police officer in the town of Old Orchard Beach, Maine. I also served two active duty enlistments in the US Navy and am now a reservist in the Navy Reserve.

In my free time I enjoy physical training, coaching youth sports, and spending time with my wife and children.

Det. Walt Schneider

I have been a police officer at Miami University Since January of 2000. During this time I have been a part of the bike patrol and the Community Relations Team, where I have spent a lot of time teaching classes and educating staff, students, and community members. I have worked all three shifts on patrol and am currently assigned to the Office of Investigations working day shift.

I enjoy being a part of the community relations team, and believe that it gives officers a chance to meet and talk with the students and community members that we would not normally get to.

While working at the university I have had the pleasure of attending classes and completed my Bachelors degree in Health Studies (class of 2008).

While working at Miami I have taken over 700 hours of specialized police training, the most recent focus has been in computer forensics. I just completed a five week Basic Computer Evidence Recovery training class that was hosted by the Secret Service and the Department of Homeland Security in Hoover, Alabama.

I joined the Community Relations Team in 2006 and hope that I can be a positive role model to those I come into contact with.
