  OFFENSE:   Series of Off-Campus Burglaries
  DATE/TIME:   Between August 19 and September 3, 2007
  LOCATIONS:  
  • Residence in 700 block of S. Oak St. – August 19
  • Residence in 100 block of S. Beech St. – September 1
  • Vehicle in 0 block of S. Beech St. – September 2
  • Residence in 200 block of S. Main St. – September 3
  • Residence in 600 block of S. College Ave. – September 3

    All incidents occurred during the early morning hours of the dates listed.

    DETAILS: Since the start of this school year, Oxford police have received five (5) reports of stolen portable electronics from Miami students. In four (4) of the cases, the property was stolen from houses; in the fifth case the perpetrator broke into a parked car. The stolen property consisted almost entirely of devices such as iPods, laptop computers, and digital cameras. All of the burglaries occurred in the early morning hours (midnight to 7 a.m.) and in most cases the houses were occupied at the time of the offense. None of the victims has been able to provide a description of the suspect(s).

    Police remind everyone to keep doors and ground floor windows locked at all times. Stow all valuables out of sight when parking a car and be sure to lock it. Call 9-1-1 to report anyone you observe behaving suspiciously.
