Ergonomics & Safety

chair

To promote ergonimics and safety, EHWB encourages Miami employees to look at what kind of work they do, what tools/equipment they use, and their whole job environment.

By looking at these things, employees can become aware of how they interact with their work environment and make adjustments needed to increase saftey, comfort, and efficiency. Here are some examples:

- Adjusting the position of your keyboard to prevent carpel tunnel syndrome

- Being sure that the height of your desk chair allows your feet to rest flat on the foor

- Learning the right way to lift heavy objects to prevent back injuries

- Taking "microbreaks" to get up from your desk and stretch tight muscles
