Parking Permits

Faculty & Staff

2011-12 faculty/staff parking permits expired on June 30, 2012. 2012-13 faculty/staff parking permits are now available for purchase or renewal.

Permits may be deducted from employee paychecks before taxes. It is not necessary to be signed up for payroll deduction to receive this pre-tax benefit, which happens automatically when you apply or renew on-line or request the pre-tax option in person.

If you would prefer to complete a paper application, the link below will provide the form which you may complete and submit via campus mail.

Red faculty/staff parking permits for 2012-13 are $30 and will expire June 30, 2013. KEEP YOUR 2012 HANG TAG - Faculty and staff will receive a renewal sticker for the front of their existing hang tag for 2012-2013. Validating current permits with renewable stickers instead of annual replacement of hang tags is a cost saving measure that was suggested by a member of the university community and was implemented with the issuance of last year's hang tag. Your 2013 renewal sticker should be affixed to the front of your existing hang tag, validating your parking privilege for the 2012-2013 school year.

Students

Miami University’s parking and transportation services office will begin selling student parking permits on Monday, August 6, at 7:30 a.m. Online permit sales will also be available at that time. Prices for student parking permits remain unchanged from 2011-12 prices.

Changes to parking permits this year include the elimination of purple (off campus) parking permits and daily parking garage access cards. Students living off campus are now eligible to purchase holding lot (yellow) parking permits, giving them 24-hour access to the West Millett and Ditmer parking lots. Students may still pay hourly rates to park in the North Campus or Campus Avenue garages. Parking garage rates remain at $1 for the first hour and $0.50 for each additional hour; no permit is required to park in garages on an hourly basis. Students are encouraged to use the Miami Metro for transportation around campus and the city of Oxford to reduce vehicle traffic that leads to congestion and pedestrian safety issues.

Student area (blue) parking permits, holding lot (yellow) parking permits and overnight parking garage access are available for purchase based on qualifications. Students wishing to purchase overnight parking garage access will also need to have a valid parking permit. These options will be shown as a combination in the online parking system.

Please note that the permits you are eligible for are determined by your class standing and address information in Banner. If your home or local address information is not current, you should update that information in BannerWeb before registering for a parking permit.

To register a student vehicle, use the Online Parking Services system on the parking website at www.muohio.edu/parking. Click the “Online Parking Services” icon on the right margin of the page and follow the instructions to purchase your permit. If the permit you wish to purchase is not shown, you will need to contact the parking and transportation services office at (513) 529-8535. Students who qualify to purchase a parking permit because of an exceptional transportation need other than distance will need to complete a paper application and submit the appropriate documentation for consideration. Applications are available by following the link below.

Student parking permits will be charged to your bursar account. When your online transaction is complete, you will be given an option to print a temporary permit which serves as a receipt of your transaction and as a valid parking permit for 10 days from the date of your purchase. Students must present their student IDs and pick up their parking permits in person from the parking and transportation services office in 128 Campus Avenue Building.
