Work in Progress: 

Professor Barilleaux is currently writing a book on how American presidents respond to the challenge of governing in difficult situations. This book, tentatively entitled Tough Times for the President, examines presidential leadership under conditions of political adversity. He is also writing several shorter works, on executive oversight of agency rulemaking, other forms of executive unilateralism, and the limits of contemporary academic political science.
