Undergraduate Programs

Our undergraduate programs consist of one minor and the following 3 majors:

Political Science

Political science is the social science that studies how we govern ourselves. Political scientists investigate how public policies are formed, how we organize ourselves for carrying out those policies, and how people compete and cooperate in deciding who shall hold public office.

Diplomacy and Global Politics

This major introduces students to the theoretical and practical aspects of international relations, comparative politics, and diplomacy. It provides students with an understanding of foreign and domestic security policies, international economic relationships, and foreign cultures.

Public Administration

This major is designed for students who are interested in public service careers in all levels of government, international organizations, nonprofit institutions, and consulting firms, or post-graduate education in public administration, policy analysis, or law.

Graduate Program

The department offers a program leading to the Master of Arts (M.A.) degree.The program is designed to provide students with the intellectual and professional skills they need to pursue careers in teaching, research, government service, and business. Students can specialize in American politics, comparative politics, international relations, or public administration.

In order to be considered for Fall admission with the possiblity of funding, files must be complete by March 1. The Department deadline for admission without consideration of funding is June 1.

Student Organizations

Membership in student clubs and organizations is a great way to participate in your major in an out-of-classroom setting. There are several polisci-related organizations supported by the department or university.
