The Philosophy Minor
The Department offers a minor in
Applied Ethics
and a minor in the History
of Philosophy. To sign up for
a minor, you should obtain a "Divisional
Transfer and/or Change of Major, Minor,
Thematic
Sequence" form from the
Arts and Science Advising Office (146
Upham Hall) or from our main office
(212 Hall
Auditorium ), obtain the signature
of our chief
departmental undergraduate adviser
, and return the completed form
to the Arts and Science Advising Office.

The minor in the History of Philosophy
consists in the following two courses:

and any three (3) of the following courses:
- PHL 390 - Existentialism
- PHL 402 - Nineteenth Century Philosophy
- PHL 430 - Seminar in Ancient or
Medieval Philosophy
- PHL 440 - Seminar in Modern Philosophy
- PHL 460 - Seminar in Marxism
Additionally, the Department occasionally
offers special topics courses, and
honors
courses, in areas appropriate
to both of these minors. These may
be used in fulfillment of the "any
three of the following" requirement
by petition to the Department.
