Undergraduate Programs

The Philosophy Department at Miami operates several programs of study: an undergraduate major in Philosophy; two minors, history of philosophy and applied ethics; and a master's degree program. In addition, courses are offered to a large number of students from all departments who are seeking to fulfill their general education requirements or to enrich a course of study in other fields. Although the faculty of the Department is active in research and writing, it is committed to meeting the needs of students first. The Department makes a strong effort to keep its classes small, and the faculty is prepared to teach students individually through independent study courses or through work outside the classroom.
