External evaluations, funded by the US Department of Education for the National Writing Project, found the following from teachers attending the OWP Teaching of Writing workshop 2008:

•100% considered the overall quality of the workshop very good or excellent
•100% felt the quality of the workshop better than other professional activities
•100% felt they would be able to use and apply what they learned in the four-week workshop in their classrooms
