Fall 2009 Weekend Workshop
What: "Revision and Reflection in the Writing Classroom"
Instructors: TBA
When: November 7 & 8, 2009
Where: Miami University, Oxford Campus
Why: Revision. It may be one of the hardest parts of the writing process for both students and teachers. Join OWP teachers as they share resources and strategies to effectively teach students to reflect on and revise writing. Participants will be given time to read current professional articles, practice strategies for revising and reflecting, and create models for classroom use
How: To sign up, email Cassandra Thompson at thompscd@muohio.edu or call the OWP office at 513-529-5245. The cost for this one-credit hour workshop will be approximately $500 (prior to TEAM scholarship tuition reduction).
Spring 2010 Workshop
What: "Reading Contemporary Authors"
Instructors: Sharon Rab
When: TBA
Where: The first and last meetings will be in Oxford; but from January to May, the class will have five meetings at Books & Company in Kettering, OH.
Why: OWP offers a book club with a difference. Participants meet with authors to discuss their works. In the past the class has met and talked with writers such as Louis Sacher, author of Holes and Small Steps and Sue Monk Kidd, author of The Secret Life of Bees and The Mermaid’s Chair, and yet there are always surprises. The course usually includes at least one YA or children’s author, but that always depends on the tour schedule of the writers whose new books have been released.
How: To sign up, email Cassandra Thompson at thompscd@muohio.edu or call the OWP office at 513-529-5245. The cost for this two-credit hour workshop will be $986 (prior to TEAM scholarship tuition reduction). Please contact Sharon Rab (sharonrab@woh.rr.com) for questions about the workshop.
