What is Institutional Research?
The Office of Institutional Research (OIR) at Miami University
supports the university's planning and decision-making
processes through the analysis and dissemination of
information about students, faculty, and finances.
External Reporting: IR is responsible for standard
reporting to the federal government (IPEDS surveys),
the state government (HEI reporting), the NCAA (athlete
graduation rates), publishing companies (US News and
other college guidebooks), and others.
Internal Reporting: OIR is responsible for compiling
an annual Fact Book, supporting Academic Program Review, and creating
many other periodic reports. We also complete numerous
ad hoc reports.
IR Resources: The Association
for Institutional Research webpage contains a
variety of resources for IR professionals. Miami IR
staff also participate in the Ohio
Association of Institutional Research and Planning and the North East
Association for Institutional Research. Additional IR resources are available on our IR Resources webpage.
