Who is Eligible to Participate? All Miami students are invited to register to present at the annual Undergraduate Research Forum. Students can present on any research they have conducted. Student presentations can be about any research topic in any discipline. The student research may have been carried out as part of a class, an independent study, a community project, service-learning project, a creative project, etc.. The event is free and open to the public. Visitors can walk by and discuss with student scholars how each of the various projects was conceived and developed and hear directly from students their perception of the impact these rich mind/hands-on research experiences.

UR 13 Forum Event Format: Students choose one of two presentation formats to represent their work and to articulate results of an independent faculty-mentored research experience.

  1. An oral presentation (student presents and then fields questions from the audience). Students often develop a powerpoint or Prezzi for the oral presentation.
  2. Interactive Poster Session for which students develop a comprehensive poster detailing the research process. Poster Printing Information from Miami Print Center

Read the story by Jessica Sink, Miami 2012.

In April 2012 Over 400 students were involved in three interactive poster sessions. Over 30 undergraduate presenters offered information about their work to an audience, speaking about the process involved in forming a research question, deciphering results, and planning for future investigation. Oral Presentations in 2012 ranged in topic from examining the characteristics of the wolf spider to analyzing the psychological factors involved in determining a college major. These seminars showcased the hard work of Miami undergraduate students in a supportive, collaborative atmosphere.
