Wrap-up of USS'97 Summer Activities

 

Miami University's Undergradute Summer Scholars (USS) Program has completed its third year. During the summer of 1997, 120 undergraduates worked one-on-one with Miami faculty members on research projects and other creative activities under the USS Program. Faculty involved came from twenty-nine different Miami departments.

 

In addition to individual project efforts, a number of students also participated in one or more of the following USS group activities:

 

  • 6/23/97 Lilly Research Laboratories and Corporate Headquarters field trip, in conjunction with the Chemistry NSF-REU and Hughes Summer Internship Programs.
    • Hosted by Dr. Philip R. Reid, Eli Lilly and Company, Indianapolis. Accompanied by Professors B.W. Gung, C.A. Makaroff, M.W. Crowder and J.A. Czaja.
  • 6/25/97 Hands-On Computer Workshop: Basics of E-mail and Web Browsers (Havinghurst Computer Lab, 260 BAC)
    • Conducted by Manan Ahmed [USS'96 awardee] and Cameron Wade Hines [USS'97 awardee].
  • 7/1/97 Hands-On Computer Workshop: Development of Web Pages (Havinghurst Computer Lab, 260 BAC)
