MERCK Undergraduate Eligibility

To Apply for UNCF Merck Undergraduate Science Research Scholarship Award, you must be:

1. African American (Black)

2. Enrolled full-time in any four-year college or university in the United States

3. A junior who will be a B.S. or B.A. degree candidate in the 2009-2010 academic year. Assuming you meet the other eligibility requirements, you are only eligible to apply for a UNCF/Merck Undergraduate Science Research Scholarship as a college junior. If selected, the scholarship monies would be applied to your senior year in college and you would complete internships at Merck the summers after your junior and senior years.

A UNCF Merck selection committee consisting of educators and Merck scientists will evaluate the applicants. Award recipients will be selected based on their GPA, their demonstrated interest in their own scientific education and a career in scientific research, and their ability to preform in a laboratory environment.
The deadline for all applications and supporting materials is December 15, 2008.
