Responsible Conduct of Research Training

The Office for the Advancement of Research and Scholarship is excited to launch its Responsible Conduct of Research Program in the Fall of 2005! The RCR Program consists of training opportunities and seminars that are designed to enhance learning opportunities for university faculty, staff and students. Certain training opportunities are designed to also meet the recommended core instructional areas in Responsible Conduct of Research for federally funded training grants*. Training options are as follows:

Departmental/Course/Organizational RCR Workshops
Individualized workshops on RCR will be offered throughout the academic year for University departments, organizations and research courses. Participation in an RCR workshop will fulfill the University requirement for the training and efforts will be made to tailor each workshop to the research needs of the target audience. Due to this, it is requested that such inquiries for the training be made at least two weeks in advance to ensure proper planning.

If you would like to request a RCR Workshop, please complete the following request form here ***** To be added**** RCR On-Line Training (Required of all individuals who receive CFR funding)

Miami University is an organizational member of the Responsible Conduct of Research Educational Consortium. As a member of this group, Miami University faculty, staff and students are able to utilize an on-line Internet-based course on Responsible Conduct in Research.
If you are interested in registering for the course, please send an inquiry email to: responsibleresearch@muohio.edu.

RCR Workshop for Incoming Graduate Students (Required of all first year graduate students beginning Fall, 2005)
During the new graduate students’ orientation program, all incoming students will receive an introductory workshop on Responsible Conduct of Research. Students will be required to register for the course for tracking purposes. If you are unable to attend the orientation session, you may also fulfill this requirement by either taking the on-line course or attending an RCR seminar session (Survival Skills and Ethics Program). If you have any questions on fulfilling this requirement, please send an inquiry email to responsibleresearch@muohio.edu.

*Survival Skills and Ethics Program (RCR seminar series)

The seminars are tailored to provide participants with the opportunity to learn skills that will aid in their “survival” during the graduate student and post-doctoral training process. Scheduled topics include:

  • Data Acquisition, Management, Sharing and Ownership
