Call for Manuscripts
Manuscripts are sought for review and potential publication in the journal Education in a Democracy: A Journal of the NNER. This peer-reviewed journal is published once each Fall in an on-line format. The purpose of the journal is to foster inquiry related to the mission of the National Network for Educational Renewal (NNER) and the Agenda for Education in a Democracy (AED).
The journal accepts articles related to the AED, and articles should address one or more of the following issues:
- fostering effective participation in a social and political democracy;
- ensuring access to the understandings and skills required for satisfying and responsible lives;
- developing and providing continuing support to educators who nurture the learning and well-being of every student;
- encouraging educators to be competent and committed stewards of their schools and communities; and
- informing readers about educational policy issues related to the agenda of the NNER.
Collaboration across educational settings and boundaries is strongly encouraged, as are creative forms of scholarship from the Arts and Sciences, Colleges of Education, and P-12 school settings. Submissions should be accessible to a broad range of readers interested in education.
All manuscripts will be submitted electronically, and all correspondence will be via e-mail. Submitted articles will be judged using a double-blind review process. Articles should contain content that is appropriate for the stated purposes of the journal, and should be readable and applicable to the issues being faced by the myriad settings of the NNER.
Each issue of the journal is fully copyrighted by the NNER. As a condition of publication, authors grant the NNER permission to post or print the full text of an article for the use of its members.
