Tom Kopp

Education: SUNY Oswego, BA; Syracuse University, PhD

Work Experience:

  • Since 1969, he has taught every grade level from 7th grade to graduate school; in two public high schools (Lake Placid and Cazenovia, NY), and two universities (Syracuse and Miami)
  • Currently the coordinator of the Adolescent/Young Adult Program (aka Secondary Education) at Miami University

Professional Responsibilities:

• member of Teacher Education Department faculty, teaching courses and workshops in a variety of teacher certification areas
• teach, write, present, and consult in area of applied human motivation
• conduct research and instruction in experiential, community, museum, and other “non-formal” modes of learning
• Board member (and current President) of Bgrass, Inc. (for the preservation/promotion of Cincinnati-Dayton bluegrass heritage)

Awards and Accomplishments:

• Several time Miami University Outstanding Teacher
• Miami University Alumni Teaching Scholars Mentor (four times)
• other awards for scholarly publication and professional service

Hobbies:

Blacksmithing, gardening, caving, orienteering, and virtually anything outdoors
