Description:

Miami University is looking for very responsible students to become crewmembers of the Miami University Natural Areas Trail System. This position is part time. After a training period much of the work is performed individually, in beautiful woodland settings without direct supervision.

Requirements:

  • Provide your own transportation to the Work Center on Oxford - Milford Rd. (1 ½ miles)
  • Capable of lifting 80 lbs
  • Capable of pull starting a lawnmower

Responsibilities:

The Miami University Natural Areas System is composed of 1000+ acres and 15 miles of trails. Crewmembers participate in developing and maintaining this system. Duties include:

  • Developing and maintaining trails
  • Remove invasive species (honeysuckle)
  • remove fallen limbs
  • keep drain areas open
  • remove litter
  • mowing - trail entrances and trails
  • maintaining trail sign system
  • Light construction - bridges, signs, outbuildings

 

Schedule and Rates

  • Work Hours: are flexible around your schedule.
  • Fall, Winter and Spring: 6 - 10 hours a week.
  • Summer: 20 to 40 hours a week depending on your schedule
  • Starting Hourly rate: $5.15
