Reunion 2003
About the 2003 Reunion
The MTSC 2003 Reunion took place on October 17, 18, and 19, 2003. Over a hundred graduates and presenters attended, and conference evaluations indicated that those who returned to Miami were pleased with what they found.
Our guest speakers—Karen Schriver and Stuart Selber—informed and entertained us, showing us new ways to think about technolgies and communication.
Our roundtable leaders—Sara Heidtmann Coers, Scott DeLoach, Rob Houser, and Russ Needham—all MTSC graduates provided useful and first-hand knowledge about single-sourcing, usability, freelancing, and training. A member of our Miami University faculty, Dr. Katherine Durack, ended the event on Sunday by demonstrating how instructions for dance steps, which contain both explicit and tacit knowledge, are a unique form of technical communication. She also entertained us by making sure we leaned the tango from our Arthur Murray instructors.
Time has sped by since October—and our thoughts about posting pictures have gone by the wayside as another semester has begun. However, we hope this summer that we will be able to post some pictures from the conference, enable those of you who want to donate to the program to do so, and provide an opportunity for obtaining a MTSC t-shirt.
And thanks to all of you who participated by presenting or attending.
