
IT Services Staff & Reporting Units
The mission of Information Technology Services is to provide centralized
leadership for the continued development and support of an environment
that is conducive to the application of technology in administration,
teaching, research, and learning. Fundamental to this mission is the
provision of a stable operating environment including a network and
hardware infrastructure and a diverse set of support services. Programs
and services must be in line with the needs of a diverse and progressive
faculty and student population. To accomplish this mission, the organization
works in partnership with our university clients and other service providers.
IT Services is organized into 6 areas, each with a mission specific
to its functions yet complimentary to the overall mission of IT Services:
- Academic Technology Services (ATS) supports Miami faculty as they transform students into scholars, move from a teaching paradigm to learning and discovery paradigms, and embrace inquiry-based learning. ATS provide resources that support excellence in undergraduate and graduate education, faculty and student pursuit of scholarly discovery and creation, and attraction and retention of outstanding faculty and students.
- Computing & Communication Services (CCS) plans, prepares, installs, configures, monitors, and maintains hardware and software infrastructure; keeps current with the technology to evaluate and recommend strategies for growth; provides support to other areas of IT Services and, through these areas, to the rest of the university community.
- The Information Security Office (ISO) provides security policy development and guidance related to Miami University's information assets and information technology environment. Additionally, the ISO is responsible for security awareness and training.
- Information Systems Services (ISS) supports institutional requirements for computing applications, both purchased products and original development. The scope of the mission includes instructional, research, and administrative applications.
- Support Services & Campus Partnerships (SSCP) provides a wide range of support services to students, faculty, staff and the extended university community. These services include help desk; hardware repair; online knowledge base; online and instructor-led training; survey tools; advanced support to campus technology staff; high-end printing services; photography; videography; graphic design.
- The Office of the Deputy CIO (DCIO) supports the Vice President for Information Technology in a number of areas, including portfolio, project and resource management, IT benchmarking, IT surveys and ad hoc requests.
