Information Systems & Services Standards—Application Development

Application development consists of tasks that result in an application being deployed. This may include deploying a product purchased from a vendor as well as writing programs from technical specifications. In each case, the development of an application is managed through an appropriate development methodology. Development work begins when a project or task has been prioritized and accepted by the IT Services Leadership Team or by the ISS managers.

Following is a list of topics containing specific software development standards to be used by the ISS developers:

Following is a list of steps to be taken for deploying a product purchased from a vendor requiring a new server:

Order server and network equipment
Plan and prep space, power, and networking connections
Notify the ISO of the upcoming server installations (Note: this does not preclude any necessary ISS notifications to the ISO)
Receive equipment, install in staging room, and install OS

  • Work with application vendor to install the application on the provided systems
  • Work with the CCS Security Engineer to define needed firewall rules. See Application & Network Security for details.
The CCS Security Engineer will work with ISS to establish and test firewall rules on the test firewalls.
