Department Equipment Rental
The Office of Telecommunications offers several items
for sale or rental to faculty and staff. These items
can help improve the quality of your telephone service.
Items rented from the Office of Telecommunications comes
with repair service and technical support. Rented equipment
will be charged directly to your department's monthly
telephone charges. Check with your department to make
sure you are authorized to request the equipment before
placing your order.
We offer accessories which have been tested and proven
to work with the equipment used at Miami University.
Please consider us first when purchasing accessories.
Equipment purchased from another vendor may not work
with the telephone service you have requested.
- Headsets - The Office of Telecommunications
offers Plantronics headsets. wired or cordless, for your Cisco telephones.
- Shoulder Rests - This device attaches
to your handset and makes it easier to hold the handset
on your shoulder while talking on the phone. These
are kept in stock at our office in 200 Robertson Hall.
- TDD Devices - You can contact the Office of Disability Resources for these
devices.
- Replacement Handset Cords - We
stock 12 foot replacement handset cords for many of
the telephones on campus. If your cord is damaged
or hopelessly tangled, and you are renting your telephone
from Miami University, we can exchange your cord for
free.
- Replacement Base Cords - We stock
replacement base cords for plugging your telephone
into the wall. If your base cord is frayed or damaged,
and you are renting your telephone from Miami University,
we can exchange your cord for free.
- Cordless Telephones - We use 900
Mhz telephones for our cordless telephone needs on
campus. 2.4 GHz phones are prohibited on campus as they interfere with wireless service. Only 900 MHz and 5.8 GHz phones are permitted. Please call the Office of Telecommunications

only available for purchase. We do not rent cordless
phones.
Note: These cordless phones have
not been designed for business use, although they
have been found to work well with our system. They
should be given careful consideration before sending
