Departmental Wireless (Cellular) Plan

Miami University and the Office of Telecommunications have entered into a contract with Cincinnati Bell Wireless to provide wireless service for Miami University business customers.

The handsets and accessories will be purchased from the Telecommunications Office (Price determined by model). The end user will be responsible for care/ loss of equipment. Any lost handset should be reported to the Office of Telecommunications for immediate suspension. Replacement will be at the cost of the end user. You can view phones by selecting the "Wireless (Cellular) Plan link to the left and act as though you are ordering service.  The number cannot be ported to another provider; it is the property of Miami University.

In order to ensure continuity, there are some departments that have elected to provide faculty and staff with one model telephone. Please check with the person in charge of the department telephone account and attain approval. All requests should be directed to the Office of Telecommunications in written form. (e-mail telecommunications@muohio.edu, fax 9-3841 or memo) The information required includes: user name, departmental Banner code, model, plan selection (including additional text or data packages) and if applicable accessories.

The handsets will be programmed with either a Hamilton wireless area code and exchange or a Middletown exchange depending on area where most usage will occur.

We offer various plans for you to choose from. Please review each plan and select the one that best fits your needs.

            Blackberry Users - No matter who the provider, if you have a Blackberry device and have an account on the BES, there is a $5.00/month charge.

PLEASE NOTE
Downloading games, ringtones, and graphics will incur additional charges. If you have a camera phone, sending an MMS message or picture message is .20 in addition to data transfer charges.

The Office of Telecommunications also has available one plan through Verizon Wireless. This is the only plan we have at this time, the pricing is as follows:

              Monthly Service Fee - $8.99

               Usage -

                  .12/minute (every minute) in the regional area (513, 614, 859, and 937)

                  .17/minute outside the regional area

               Blackberry Data - $41.00 (required if you have a Blackberry device in addition to the voice plan)

               Account on the BES - $5.00/month
