Competitive Process (FY 10)


$525,000 of Student Technology Fee funding is available for award through a competitive process by submitting a proposal form. To be eligible, proposed projects must support the goals articulated when the Student Technology Fee was created: supporting students in achieving their academic program goals, while also enhancing their life at Miami.

All proposals must be in compliance with the Guidelines for Expenditures which will provide a framework for the reviewers to award funding. The complete listing of all proposals submitted for the FY10 competitive process can be viewed here. To view all the funded proposals, click here.

April 25, 2009 Proposal awards announced
July 1, 2009 Funds available to awarded proposals
December 31, 2009 Final reports due for awarded proposals

Who May Submit a Proposal: Any student, faculty member, staff member, inter-disciplinary or other group, organization, department, etc. on the Oxford campus may submit a proposal.

Proposal Submission: Complete and submit one Proposal Submission Form for each project no later than end of business, February 27, 2009. If the project lead is a faculty or staff member of CAS, FSB, SEAS, SEHS, SFA or LIB, email the proposal to the appropriate dean; otherwise, email it to techfee@muohio.edu.

 Requesting Any of the Following:
   
  Software: If you are requesting software, please go to the Software Store to get the price of the software. If it is not already priced in the store, then click on "Request a Quote". Contact Peggy Sander, IT Acquisitions & Licensing Officer, (sanderm@muohio.edu or 9-6061) if you have problems or special cases.
   
  Computers: It is expected that computers will be purchased through the Big Buy process.

   
  Curricular Changes: If your proposal includes any changes in the curriculum, please check with the appropriate department chair(s).
   
  Classroom Changes: Check with Randy Mikesell, Coordinator of Classroom Facilities, (mikeserw@muohio.edu or 9-8586) to discuss designs and prices.
   
  Space Changes: Check with Dick Pettitt, Associate Provost, (pettitrn@muohio.edu or 9-6723) to talk about Space Utilization Group approval.

Proposal Awards: All funds awarded must be used as specified in the proposed budget. Any unused funds will be retained in the Central Student Technology Fee budget to be awarded in the next competitive proposal process. Any deviations from the accepted proposal must be approved by the Senior Director of Academic Technology Services, in consultation with the Student Co-Chair of the Student Technology Advisory Council.

Final Report: A brief final report is required for each funded project are due December 31, 2009. Requests for extensions must be approved by the Senior Director of Academic Technology Services in consultation with the Student Chair of the Student Technology Advisory Council.
