TechTalk
Article Guidelines
- Appropriate Topics: Articles about
any aspect of information technology at Miami likely
to be of interest to a good portion of Miami
students and/or faculty or staff are appropriate
for TechTalk.
Please note: topics that are likely
to be of interest only to TSRs and/or IT Services
staff are not appropriate
for
TechTalk
as those groups are only a portion of the TechTalk
audience and other communication avenues are available
for those groups.
- Length: Generally shorter is better - with a desired
length of less than 350 words if possible.
- Title: Titles should be 10 words
or less (again shorter is better - as long as it
conveys the article's focus).
- Opening: The first two to three
sentences should be catchy
and indicative of the contents of the article
as
a whole. These sentences appear on the TechTalk
home page along with a "more" button so individuals
interested in the topic can click to read the entire
article. Keep in mind that many times people don't
"drill down" so the first few sentences should contain
anything you want to make sure as many people as
possible
see.
- Closing: If appropriate, please
include references to sources of additional information.
- Images: Articles should include
images if possible. Potential
images can be photos, product logos, clipart
etc. If you don't have images available but have
some ideas about images that would be appropriate
to include, please share those suggestions when you
submit your article and we will try to find or create
appropriate images if time allows.
Please note: if you have images for your article,
please submit them in .gif or .jpg format. We suggest
you create a zip file with your article and the image
files before using the article submission form as you
can only submit one file at a time.
