Microsoft Exchange Recommended as New University E-mail/Calendaring System
E-mail and calendaring services are prime examples of how information technology touches the lives of all members of the university community on a daily basis. With millions of messages traveling through the Miami system each year, reliable e-mail service has become a basic utility for most faculty, staff and students. Like we expect water to flow when we turn on the tap, we expect our e-mail service to be available whenever we need or want it.
To provide a reliable, flexible, and scalable system capable of meeting the university's long-term needs, IT Services recommended to the IT Strategic Advisory Council in October that the university purchase and implement Microsoft Exchange as Miami's "next generation" e-mail/calendaring solution. Microsoft Exchange is a robust enterprise-class solution that is extremely feature-rich. The IT Strategic Advisory Council accepted the recommendation and asked that IT Services gather campus input on the migration.
