Miami University: Survey Tools — Survey Data Storage Server

Storing Survey Data Securely

The Institutional Review Board (IRB) and the IT Services Information Security Office highly recommends that all survey results, public and confidential, be stored in a secure location. All faculty and staff who use either the Checkbox or Snap Surveys tools are provided space on a dedicated Survey Data Storage Server for storing data resulting from surveys conducted using these surveys tools.

This server can be accessed via a Windows or Macintosh computer. View the 'Accessing the Survey Data Storage Server' PDF for details.

Please note: If you store data that should be protected in an unsecured storage space, you may assume risk associated with it being breached.

Sharing Your Server Space:

If needed, you can share your personal space, request workgroup space, or request rights for others to access an existing workgroup space.

To request workgroup space or rights for others to a folder within your personal space, you can submit the online 'Survey Data Storage Server Requests' form.

Using this form you can:

  • Share Your Personal Space – request rights for others to access the appropriate sub-folder(s) within your space on the survey data storage server.
  • Request Workgroup Space – request workgroup space on the survey data storage server if multiple individuals will need to work on surveys together.
  • Grant/Remove Rights to an Existing Workgroup Space – request or remove rights for others to access an existing workgroup space on the survey data storage server.
