ResNet Student Support Services
ResNet Student Support Services offer support to the
on-campus Miami student body. In an effort to support
each student's potential in computer related technologies,
ResNet provides support for each individuals connection
to the network.
A ResNet Technology Aide is a student employee of IT Services
who will support the Ethernet network connection in
your residence hall room. You will be able to call the
IT Services Support Desk at 529-7900 for help if you cannot
successfully connect your residence hall computer to
the network. You will need to know the type of computer
you have and be able to give a brief description of
your problem. If the Support Desk staff cannot help
you solve your problem over the phone, they will schedule
an appointment for a ResNet Technology Aide to come
to your room and try to diagnose your problem. If this
is the case, the Aide will be required to show you identification
and leave the door to your room open while they are
there. If it is a simple thing such as adjusting the
communications software, the ResNet Technology Aide
will do this for you. If the connection in your wall
appears to be faulty, the ResNet Technology Aide will
report it for you so that it can be repaired. Assistance
from the ResNet Technology Aides is provided at no charge.
If, however, a hardware problem beyond a normal Munet
installation is identified, the ResNet Technology Aide
will not attempt to repair your computer. You may call
the IT Services Support Desk to schedule a repair on a fee
basis with our on-campus contractor. If you do not wish to use the on-campus contractor, the yellow pages can point you to other off-campus computer repair vendors.

Background
In previous years, the IT Services Guide to MUnet was the
definitive resource for information regarding our
campus network. If you would like more information
