Computer Remediation Center

The IT Services Computer Remediation and Repair Center is a service offered by the Support Desk in order to provide carry-in software and hardware repair for personally-owned computers.

The following services are available:

• Virus detection and removal
• Malware/spyware detection and removal
• Enabling the computer to pass Network Protection Service requirements
• Wireless¹ Connectivity
• RoadRunner™ Connectivity
• Dial-up Internet Connectivity
• Hardware repair:
  • For Personally owned
  • For Institutionally owned
  • For Vendor specific

Turnaround

The turnaround time varies greatly depending on the progression of the semester and the virus climate on the network and Internet.

• During periods of low virus activity, the remediation center may be able to provide one day service.
• During busy periods a wait of several days should be anticipated, particularly at the beginning of the semester.

Typical repairs can range from hours to days depending on the speed of the machine and severity of infection.

¹Only connections to University supported wireless access points will be supported, not private APs.
