Many Miami departments are expanding their computing capabilities by purchasing servers intended to run specific, specialized applications. MCIS will be offering to host departmental servers. This service will be designed to reduce the overhead associated with running a server-based application without taking away the advantages to the department of the departmentally run service. We are exploring the costs associated with different systems; varying levels of client/MCIS involvement with the server, operating systems and application. Another service, Central Disk Space, is available to those users who need only disk space.
