Miami
University has two main reporting tools; WebFOCUS and
Brio.Report Builder. Once you have had the initial training,
IT Services’ Data Support Specialist provides open workshops
for both tools.
WebFOCUS is a user-friendly reporting language
to do ad-hoc programs. The GUI tool is used to do basic
data relationship reports while the more complex reports
require the character-based language. The Data Support
staff provide assistance with both the GUI tool and
the character-based language. Workshops are held approximately
once each week. Clients many also receive assistance
by phone or by setting up private time with the Data
Support personnel.
Brio.Report
Builder may be used for either ad-hoc or production
programs. The GUI component will allow you to produce
basic data relationship reports with simple selection
criteria. The Data Support people provide assistance
with the GUI tool and provide limited assistance with
the character-based language as necessary to allow GUI-created
programs to function. Workshops are held approximately
once each week. Clients may also receive assistance
by phone or by setting up private time with the Data
Support personnel.
SQR, Brio.Report Builder’s character-based
language is a professional programming tool, rigorous
and based significantly on SQL. It requires a full
license of Brio and is best undertaken with SQR training.
If you have received SQR language training, Miami’s
Data Support personnel will set up additional workshops
led by an Information Systems programmer based on your
provided topics of interest.
Selecting
