Obtaining Microsoft Software

University Owned Computers

Miami's Campus Agreement allows the university's technical support personnel to install the following software on university owned computers.

  • Window Operating System upgrades
  • Office Products

Due to licensing restrictions and Microsoft's anti-piracy policies, Windows Vista Enterprise and Office 2007 are only available for delivery to university-owned computers via Altiris. Contact the Support Desk to request that the software be delivered to a computer in your area. Older versions of the software may be obtained by logging a call to the Support Desk at 513-529-7900 or sending an e-mail to supportdesk@muohio.edu. Any keys that are issued are the property of Miami University and must be held confidential. This software is to be installed on university owned computers only.

"Other" Microsoft Software for University Owned Computers:

Miami also has a "Select" software agreement that allows the university to purchase software titles, other than listed above at greatly discounted prices. For detailed order instructions, see Knowledge Base Case #2808, Order Microsoft Select Agreement Software for University Owned Computers.

Personal Computers

Miami's Microsoft contract allows students, faculty and staff to purchase Microsoft Software for personally computers. Miami has contracted with e-academy, an online software distributor to sell the software 24 hours a day, 7 days a week via a website. The software can be shipped to any street address in the U.S. or Canada. Go to e-academy to shop.

Note: If you are taking a computer science or engineering class through the School for Business, School of Engineering or either regional campus, the required software may be available to you free from the department. Please check with your instructor prior to purchasing any Microsoft Software.
