In order to ensure Information Technology Services’ staff
work from secure workstations (with workstation
being defined as any electronic device including
but not limited to desktop computers, laptop
computers, PDA’s) the following policy
shall be adhered to.
- Workstations used by Information Technology
Services staff shall be properly protected
by:
- Current/accepted operating system
- Anti-virus software.
- Firewall software.
- Current operating system security
patches.
- Periodic inspection by software designed
to detect nefarious programs.
- This policy applies to all workstations
used by IT Services staff (including home-based
workstations whether university or personally
owned) for which any of the following is true:
- The workstation is used for university
business purposes.
- IT Services’ staff enters Miami
university authentication credentials
on the university or personally owned
or other workstation, including:
- Miami UniqueID and MUnet password.
- Other UniqueIDs and/or passwords
to access any university server
or network hardware.
- Contain confidential material.
- This security policy is governed by the
Information Technology Services’ Policy
on Information Technology Services’ Policy
and Procedures as well as by Responsible
Use of Computing Resources At Miami University and Miami
University Computing Security Policy
