200 Gaskill Hall

A need for collaboration areas and high-tech student computing on campus led to the renovation of the lab in 200 Gaskill Hall. STAC had taken on a leadership role in designing all aspects of this lab including its uses, technology, and interior design. The renovations, made possible by the Student Technology Fee, include rooms for small group, interactive collaboration, a video conferencing room, a high-end video editing suite, and several Podcasting stations.  STAC also chose the Gaskill Lab to be the first facility on campus to offer TeamSpot, a software package designed to incorporate the best aspects of Smartboard, while allowing each person’s computer to have control of the system.

Members of the Student Technology Advisory Committee met several times Fall semester 2006.  They chose this design after reviewing six different layouts for their Lab.
Students chose to emphasize greater collaboration and group work and heavier use of multimedia, including Podcasting.
Students reviewed a software package called TeamSpot and are convinced that this is the direction they wish to take their fellow classmates. Sites may be reserved by students for students.
