Faculty & Staff

Dr. Stephanie Rollie

Stephanie S. Rollie earned her Ph.D. in Communication Studies from the University of Iowa in 2005.  She is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication at Miami University.  Stephanie teaches courses on intercultural, interpersonal, small group, and family communication.  Her research focuses on interpersonal and family relationships including nonresidential parent-child relationships, divorce, and relational maintenance.  She enjoys camping, hiking, snow boarding, and a variety of outdoor activities.

Dr. Erik Jensen

Erik Jensen received his Ph.D. in modern European history from the University of Wisconsin in 2003.  He is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of History at Miami University, where he teaches courses on Europe since 1750, the history of the body, modern European social and cultural movements, and, beginning in fall 2007, a survey course on World History from 1500 to the present.  Erik's research focuses on how elite male and female athletes defined an ideal of the "modern body" in Germany between 1918 and the mid-1930s, which is the subject of his present book project.  Erik enjoys post-World-War-I decadence, runaway inflation, silent movies, and the modern metropolis.  He is really looking forward to teaching a course on postwar (World War II, that is) Europe for the summer 2008 Luxembourg program.

Dr. Denise McCoskey

Denise Eileen McCoskey received her Ph.D. in Classical Studies from Duke University, and is currently an Associate Professor in Classics and an Affiliate in the Black World Studies Program at Miami University.  She teaches a range of courses, including various topics in ancient literature and social history, as well as all levels of Latin.  Her current book project explores the intersections of gender, geography and empire in the early Roman empire.  As an undergraduate, Denise spent a year at Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge University (UK), and since arriving at Miami, has returned twice to Cambridge in the role of Visiting Fellow, once as part of the Miami Honors Program at Selwyn College.  She enjoys travel very much, and aspires to experience as much of Europe as the Romans did—although with a lot less violence and a lot more coffee.
