Castle History
The Château de Differdange
dates back to the 13th century. Charles the Bold,
King of Burgundy, stayed there in 1475. The castle
was rebuilt in its present Renaissance style in
1577. In recent years ARBED, Luxembourg's largest
steel producer, has used the Château as
its guest house, to host their corporate clients.
A beautiful and informative book, "Si le
Château de Differdange nous était
conté", describes its rich and lengthy
history, to which Miami University will now add
the newest chapter.Here, then, are some glimpses
into the past of the Château. The story
involves many families and many dramatic moments,
all of which combine to create the unique atmosphere
of Miami's newest and yet most ancient campus!
