MUDEC’s Extensive Orientation Program |
||
All good study abroad programs have orientation programs both prior to departure and on arrival. These are designed to answer the academic, financial, personal and travel-related questions that arise as you plan for an extended stay overseas. |

Every spring we
have 5 or more evening orientation sessions in
Oxford, including lectures by experienced professors
on important aspects of Luxembourg and Europe,
a lecture by the Executive Director of MUDEC,
and "nuts
and bolts" sessions on topics such as courses,
requirements, registration,
financial questions, host family living, cultural
adjustment, travel and so on. Recent alumni of
the program will be on hand to address popular
questions. For spring semester students we offer
a refresher session in the fall plus one additional
orientation session on travel. |

When you arrive in Luxembourg, you will benefit from 4 1⁄2 days of orientation sessions on-site. These will enable you to recover from jet lag, get to know your classmates, see some important cultural and historical sites in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, and adjust to your new environment before classes start. The introductory program includes briefings from representatives of the US Embassy, information concerning safety and security matters, walking tours, lectures about Luxembourg and Differdange, and much more. The Luxembourg staff and faculty will provide extensive information on MUDEC-related matters. At the end of the first week of classes, you will all tour Trier, Germany's oldest city, the capital of the Western Roman Empire for centuries, which offers a rich and unique blend of histories, Roman buildings and arts, museums and picturesque streets. |
